Membership Benefits Green Body and Mind is a non-profit organization committed to establishing Santa Cruz, CA as the first psychotropic drug-free city. We are dedicated to ending the chemical lobotomies, disease and deaths inflicted on our citizens by the epidemic use of toxic psychotropic drugs in a non-judicial manner. Our supporters and allies fully endorse and practice only humane and evidence-based non-toxic alternative treatments for mental health distresses and illness. In 2008 our Mental Health Reform Committee will produce a new model for public mental health care titled, “First, Do No Harm” and urge the health care services community to adopt the practices outlined in the reformed model. This model will encourage all health care providers to commit to ensuring that all forms of non-toxic, non-invasive evidence-based holistic health care services are exhausted before medication is considered. The “First, Do No Harm” model provides all patients initial testing services for those known causes of mental distress and illness such as heavy metal toxicity, environmental toxicity (mold, pollutants), food additives and chemicals (aspartame, MSG, etc.), infectious disease, nutritional deficiencies, food allergies, and refined food and sugar damage to the neuroendocrine system as well as epigenetic influences such as emotionally and psychologically toxic, stressful, chaotic living environments. It is a well-known fact that neuroendocrine conditions such hypoglycemia and insulin resistance which are easily treated holistically are being diagnosed as bipolar by the psychiatric profession. Those misdiagnosed patients become victims of an industry that is taking hundreds of thousands of lives yearly and destroying the quality of life of those strong enough to withstand the detrimental health effects until they fall victim to the deadly characteristics of the drug-based mental health care model. As the founder and president of Green Body and Mind, I invite you to please become a member! Santa Cruz will soon set the standard for the nation and beyond in how to REFORM mental health care at the local level to effectively push back the multi-pharma for-profit treatments that are harming Americans in alarming numbers which continue to climb daily! This will provide web-based referrals. • Inclusion in the Green Body and Mind Business Directory (local and national) • Patient referrals • Green Body and Mind Professional Certification (identification as a non-toxic drugless practitioner endorsed by Green Body and Mind) • Access to the Green Body and Mind clinical portal (April 1) • Access to clinical and social impact data produced by our reform efforts (on going as they are produced) • Periodic progress reports exposing our challenges and successes! One thing is for certain: we are going to be getting a lot of media (it has already taken off) because our purpose is to have an official proclamation signed that we are a psychotropic (psychiatric) drug-free zone. Our website will be inundated with viewers reading up on our activities and seeking services throughout the states. I'm sure your membership fee will pay off in exposure and advertising. In fact, within about six months our site will probably be the best advertising option out there for people looking for help getting off of psychiatric drugs and regaining their mental health naturally! I did one interview in Florida and actually had to stop interviewing until we got everything packaged up and functional due to the overwhelming response we got and not wanting to "show our wares" until we were polished up! As far as the Green Body and Mind certification goes, our treatment standards are more ethical than technical because it is a known fact that there is no one treatment that fits all for any specific condition. The intuitive process that brings the patient, the right practitioner, and the right approach together is the respected beginning of all successful healing processes in our view and the magic of that process is beyond human understanding- we can't recreate it consistently so there is no justification for regulating it (and it would be counter productive to try to)! How you practice alternative/orthomolecular medicine is second to that you practice it. The one thing that must be signed off on though, is that you do not prescribe psychotropic drugs to patients nor refer them to practitioners that do. And yes, we do consider Chinese Medicine practitioners, chiropractors, D.O.s', N.D.s’, acupuncturists, EFT, Biofeedback, and many other mind/body energy healing techniques including functional and spiritual counseling good orthomolecular medicine because they do improve the cellular environment. However, we do urge that our Green Body and Mind Certified practitioners educate their patients on the importance of orthomolecular targeted nutritional therapies and corrective detoxification and dietary strategies as a fundamental requirement in establishing a fertile environment for adjunct therapies to provide sustainable results. We will be providing a content rich practitioner's portal for all orthomolecular practitioners who are members (nutritional, mind-body energy healing, etc.) to share the processes of their successes. This enables the peer to peer exchange of information that helps us paint a bigger picture of the healing process and refine our skills for better patient outcomes. As you can see from our mission/vision statement, we have a lot of work to do and you know that we are up against a huge machine, not to mention the people that actually think they need those colorful pills. Education and accessible services are the only two things that are going to change this dilemma. We could use your help and would be interested in helping you any way we can!
